Even back when I was stupid enough to buy into metaphysics, magick, psionics, etc. I was holding this opinion. The opinion is this – because prayer and fortune telling and what have you all take place within your own mind, they are incredibly accurate because you can simulate a voice in your head and make that voice say whatever you want.
It’s almost like cold reading yourself.
This is why my last post (“Why Christians Will Never Admit They’re Wrong”) referred to prayer as free self-counseling.
“God, will things work out in my life?”
“Yes, [Your Name Here], just stay strong and have faith in me. I love you, my child.”
Or whatever else you think god would say to you.
Same with future predicting and what have you. You can just guess what you THINK it might be using what I call “unknowingly cold reading” somebody. Then, if the prophecies don’t come true, you can always look for things in life similar to the prophecy, and eventually convine yourself that the prophecy came true.
Praying is genius in a way, except the participant is clueless that he/she is just talking to him/herself. But that is what makes it so effective, I suppose – that they really think that god is talking to them.
Well, that’s it. After you finish reading my stellar post and sending this link to all of your friends, visit this post:

So i am guessing this is how a prayer to you would sound.
Lord chillin, will things work out in my life?”
“No, Josh, just shut the fuck up, and quit whining. I hate you, you idiot.”
yeah, then i’d smite you for talking too much lol
Ha. Good point. Never really thought of it as ‘cold reading yourself’, and that was a splendid way of phrasing it.
Thanks for the plug, btw.
No problem. I like to plug good posts. And thanks for the praise, I appreciate it.
